NYFW is here! In celebration I thought I'd share some of my favourites. Lets start with Creatures of Comfort. That powder blue and plaid! Layering is something that has become an obsession of mine, sweeping high collared capes, turtle necks under flannels and bold cable knits. Although I sense a real country feel, I find the pieces so wearable and could fit into any womans wardrobe.
Rodarte - Complete with elements of childlike quirkiness, like the crochet, which can then be brought together with a mixture of mature silhouettes, turtle necks, paperbag-waist trousers and peplum. I'm still not sure what to think of those Star Wars prints, but they did completely explode! Filling my Instagram home page all day. I do however love the gorgeous evening wear, glitter covered parkas and well lots of glitter in general. I must say the make up, overall styling and accessories has been my favourite of NYFW so far.
Vera Wang - "People think of me for romance," said Wang backstage. "But there's always the old references to what our brand stands for. There's a tomboy, male energy mixed in with a sensuality." YOU BUG ME. Full of grunge and attitude. And whilst we have seen grunge done plenty of times before, I still do love this collection. The material choices were perfect and each very wearable. The wool tartan tailoring and chunky knits along with metallics and dark florals to give a more sensual edge.
Marc by Marc Jacobs - Full of attitude, defiant yet romantic. A dramatic army of girl power. Such a strong silhouette created, teamed with the perfect high neck. The styling worked perfect, the sharp make up and pigtails, ready to take charge...
Victoria Beckham - One of my favourite collections, I just love how clean it is. A great piece being the winter white cashmere coat with a gold chain closure. Cowl-neck knits and organza ruffle, a lot more feminine than the boyish feel of last season. Ideal for her audience, adding femme touches to sharply tailored pieces.
Alexander Wang - Complete with strong outerwear, creating a real urban feel. Chunky white detailed turtle necks and leather shirt collars. What stood out to me was the snap pockets that decorated the front of shifts, creating a simple but interesting 3D image.
VFiles - A loud, Urban collection consisting of a mixture of pieces. Knitwear, Turtle necks, Quilted jackets, Crop tops, oversized elements and printed t-shirts. Prints of Camo, scattered with pill bottles, sim cards and trash. Scare tactics. A youthful feel, I particularly loved the styling of the finale "Fear" pieces, along with their finale song being Destiny's child "Survivor"
Katie Gallagher - Her first seated runway show. Here completed with gothic tones, drooping hair bows and crisp oxblood lips. The choice of fabric and colour is one of my favourites, a full black look with a blood red hair bow, making a statement. The darker goth-like atmosphere also met with sweaters and necklines that gave a slight sport-like appearance. A not so expected but strong partnership.
Bundles of love,
